“I have always had a love for JDM cars. They have always been popular in NY for example with Honda civics especially. The first time I have ever heard of a rare Japanese car was a type r where the steering wheel was on the other side. My interest grew from there, when I came across the skyline I knew that was it. I was 15 years old.”

“My dad, Angelo Bonsangue, bought this car in 1989 from in front of his business in Greenwich Village called the “North Pole” Meat Market. It was parked there and my dad saw it and he told me he fell in love with it. He approached the driver and asked “Hey, is the car for sale?” the owner said “Yes, as a matter of fact it is”. My dad asked how much and the owner put a 5 thousand dollar price on it.“

“I think it’s one of the last truly beautiful front ends of the BMWs. It’s sort of the last shark nose out there. It also hasn’t become as popular as the e30 so it’s still a bit of a slept on car.”

We met Sean near his home in Greenwood Heights in Brooklyn. It was a beautiful day in late October and we decided to go for a drive in the neighborhood. The amount of smiles we got from people in the streets when we drove pass them was crazy. Good times in BK!

It's such an interesting experience to drive a 911 Turbo. they’re finicky, they're challenging, the car really forces you to pay attention to what’s it doing. It’s not by any means a comfortable car to drive, it’s not like a BMW comfort sedan that you can drive with one hand and hold a coffee on the other.

This car was built by Porsche, it’s a collaboration between Mercedes and Porsche. Porsche did the engineering because Mercedes could not fit the engine in the car body so they widened the front and the rear of the car.

What I love the most about this car is the culture. The community is very welcoming. You can come up with the most teared up car and somebody from the crowd will be like : ‘damn, this shit has potential!’.
