4) Is this your daily driver?
Currently, I am driving a right-hand drive 1994 Mercedes-Benz A124, which I acquired in October 2022 from Wales, UK. The 190E is my show car, this car is reserved for special occasions.

5) Why did you decide to buy this car? Are there any particular reasons or features that attracted you to this specific model?
What led me to choose the Mercedes 190E as my personal vehicle were the rare interior and exterior green colors. I discovered that this specific shade of green was not originally available in the North American market for the 190E. The moment I laid eyes on it in person, I was captivated by its uniqueness and beauty. The color truly stands out and adds a touch of exclusivity to the car.

6) How did you get into cars?
My love for cars stems from my dad, who played a pivotal role in igniting this passion within me. He had a deep appreciation for European cars, and I have vivid memories of him chauffeuring our family around in his beloved E30 saloons, Saab 900, and Volvo 240. As a youngster, I would observe him taking care of his cars with utmost dedication—meticulously cleaning and maintaining them, engaging in repairs and upgrades with his buddies, and experiencing pure joy whenever he got behind the wheel.
The influence of my dad and his love for European cars laid the foundation for my own journey into the automotive realm. Their impact nurtured my curiosity, appreciation for craftsmanship, and the desire to build a connection with cars that goes beyond the surface. It's a passion that continues to drive me to this day, inspiring me to explore, learn, and share the incredible world of automobiles with fellow enthusiasts.
So, I owe my entry into the world of cars to my dad and the invaluable experiences I had as a youngster. His dedication, joy, and unwavering love for European cars ignited a fire within me — an enduring passion that has shaped my life and continues to fuel my automotive journey.

7) Can you tell me more about your journey as an importer of right-hand drive cars? What initially sparked your interest in importing these unique vehicles?

Absolutely! My journey as an importer of right-hand drive cars began with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work in both Germany and London. While living and working in London, I stumbled upon a remarkable 1989 BMW E30 Saloon that caught my eye. I took the plunge and purchased my very first RHD car.
When my project in Europe came to an end, I faced a significant decision—what to do with my beloved E30. I couldn't bear the thought of parting ways with it, so I embarked on the challenging task of shipping it to America. It was no small feat, and there were countless hurdles to overcome. However, I was determined to bring my RHD treasure home, and with careful planning and perseverance, I successfully pulled it off.
Once my cherished E30 arrived on American soil, something incredible happened. Fellow car enthusiasts couldn't help but notice this distinctive right-hand drive vehicle. The car sparked a tremendous amount of interest and curiosity, particularly among those who were unaware that importing RHD cars was even a possibility. Witnessing this level of fascination and the conversations it sparked within the car community ignited a spark within me—a realization that there was a demand for these unique vehicles in the market.
This revelation inspired me to transform my passion into a business venture. That's when Double Mint Imports was born — an import business dedicated to bringing the charm and excitement of right-hand drive cars to enthusiasts across America. With each import, I aim to introduce car lovers to the thrill of owning and driving these distinctive vehicles, offering a range of carefully selected options that cater to their individual preferences.
My journey as an importer of right-hand drive cars has been a fulfilling and rewarding one. It all began with a single RHD car that captured my heart, and now it has evolved into a venture that allows me to share that same passion with others. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this unique industry and to witness the joy and excitement that each imported car brings to its new owner.

8) As an importer of RHD cars, what are some of the factors you consider when selecting vehicles to import?  Are there any specific models or characteristics that tend to be popular among the community?

Some of the factors all depends on my clients but I mostly promote European cars ranging from BMW, Mercedes, Audis, VWs and Land Rovers. I’ve imported JDM cars also.

9) What are some of the more interesting cars in the community?

One of the things that truly captivates me about cars is the sheer thrill of encountering those unique gems that you don't come across every day. It's those vintage classics and exquisite exotics that hold a special place in my heart. Whenever I spot a vintage muscle car or one of the right-hand drives I've personally imported, or stumble upon a jaw-dropping exotic beauty, time seems to stand still. Without hesitation, I immediately capture the moment and share it on my Instagram story for fellow car enthusiasts to revel in the excitement.
One fascinating example that comes to mind is a gentleman I discovered in East Flatbush. His automotive collection is like no other—he exclusively owns nothing but white cars, ranging from prestigious Bentleys and commanding Range Rovers to sleek BMWs. Witnessing this monochromatic fleet parked on the vibrant streets of Brooklyn never fails to leave me in awe. It's a testament to the individuality and passion that enthusiasts pour into their automotive pursuits.
Another remarkable figure I've encountered is someone who possesses a string of American musical cars from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Each vehicle is a vibrant testament to an era gone by, exuding nostalgia and charisma. What astounds me is that these dedicated individuals fearlessly park their prized possessions on the bustling streets of Brooklyn. The thought of leaving such precious automotive treasures unattended would undoubtedly keep me up at night.
These encounters serve as constant reminders of the diverse and captivating automotive landscape that exists right here in Brooklyn. Each car tells a story, reflecting the unique tastes and passions of their owners. It's these chance encounters that fuel my automotive journey, inspire me to keep exploring, and share the remarkable sights that adorn the streets with fellow enthusiasts around the world.

10) Are there any plans or goals you have for expanding your involvement in the automotive industry, whether it's through importing more cars, promoting the Black car community, or other related endeavors?

Yes, one of my goals is to launch my first dealership right here in Brooklyn. I envision a unique establishment that exclusively showcases right-hand drive cars along with an extensive collection of hard-to-find parts. It will be a haven for enthusiasts who share a passion for these distinctive vehicles.
With the launch of my dealership, I aim to provide a one-stop destination for those seeking RHD cars and specialized components. It's an opportunity to curate a selection of exceptional vehicles that cater to the discerning tastes of automotive enthusiasts in the area. By offering an array of meticulously sourced and imported cars, I hope to create a space where enthusiasts can explore their automotive dreams and find the perfect RHD vehicle that truly speaks to their individuality.
In addition to the dealership, I am also eager to promote and uplift the Black car community within the automotive industry. Representation and inclusivity are of utmost importance to me, and I want to create a space that celebrates diversity and provides opportunities for aspiring minortiy car enthusiasts to thrive. Through collaborations, events, and community engagement, I aim to foster a supportive network that amplifies the voices and achievements of Black individuals in the automotive world.
Expanding my involvement in the automotive industry is not just about running a dealership or importing cars — it's about making a lasting impact, fostering connections, and creating spaces where enthusiasts from all backgrounds can come together and share their love for cars. I'm excited to embark on this journey and contribute to the vibrant and diverse automotive landscape, both locally and beyond.

11) How do you see the future of the right-hand drive car market evolving? Are there any trends or developments that you're particularly excited about?
I see the future of right hand drive cars evolving to more European right cars. While the current market in North America is dominated by a strong presence of Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles, it's becoming increasingly common to spot JDM cars at car meets and shows. However, one thing that strikes me is the rarity of RHD European (EDM) cars compared to their JDM counterparts. It's a niche that holds tremendous potential, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the movement that is spearheading this trend on the East Coast through my business, Double Mint Imports.

12) Is there a shop in NY you highly recommend ? why?
There are two shops I highly recommend. The first one is Krafts German Auto, they specialize in Mercedes Benzes. The second shop is L&M Foreign cars, they specialize in European cars. If you do check them out, tell them Double Mint sent ya!

13) What do you think of the car culture in Brooklyn?
As a car enthusiast in Brooklyn, I must say our car culture is absolutely fantastic. The variety of cars you can see on the streets is truly remarkable, and the community of fellow car lovers is thriving. However, there's one thing that I feel is missing—a dedicated spot where we can come together and host events, similar to the iconic ACE Cafe in Orlando. Imagine having a go-to destination right here in Brooklyn where car enthusiasts from all walks of life can gather, share their passion, and showcase their beloved vehicles. A place where we can swap stories, admire each other's rides, and build connections with like-minded individuals who share the same automotive fervor. It would truly elevate our car culture to new heights.

14) What are some of your favorite things to do in Brooklyn with your car?
Some of my favorite things to do in Brooklyn with my car are to chill in Canarsie Pier, take my family to Coney Island, and to attend really cool car meets like events hosted by Wheels of NYC.

15) What is your dream garage?
My dream will be arranged like in Iron Man's house, consisting of the following cars:
My Current RHD 190e
Ferrari 488 Spider
RHD Audi R8 Gated 5 Speed
Maybach Vision 6 Concept Car
Pagani Huayra
1969 Chevy Camaro SS
1964 Chevy Impala Convertible SS
RHD BMW E31 850csi
RHD VW T4 LWB CamperVan
BMW e30 M3 Cabriolet

16) Favorite spot in Brooklyn?
My favorite spot in Brooklyn has to be Coney Island. It holds a special place in my heart as New York's most renowned amusement park. Coney Island truly embodies the essence of this vibrant city, from its iconic train lines that transport you to a world of excitement, to the lively entertainment that graces the iconic boardwalk.
One of the annual traditions that I eagerly anticipate is the New Years Day Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge. For nearly a decade now, I've enthusiastically participated in this invigorating event, diving into the icy waters alongside fellow thrill-seekers. It's an exhilarating way to kickstart the year and feel a sense of camaraderie within the Coney Island community.
Beyond the thrills and excitement, Coney Island also holds a special charm for car enthusiasts like myself. Its scenic backdrop and dynamic atmosphere make it an ideal spot to capture stunning photographs of cars. Whether it's the classic rides parked along the streets or the sleek modern machines cruising along the waterfront, Coney Island provides an enchanting setting to showcase automotive beauty.
