First things first - What’s your name and what do you do for a living? My name is Giordan and I’ve been a business owner for the past 8 years. I am the owner of Giordansdetailing. We specialize in Paint Corrections and paint protection film!
2. Can you introduce your car to us?
2000 Honda S2000. I like that it’s the first year, too- it’s neat to think about how this car came out in 1999, someone bought it new, and now I own it. That kind of history is cool to me. The car stands out on the street because it’s a purpose-built track car. But if I had to pinpoint one thing, it’s probably the tow hook coming out of the hood - it catches a lot of attention and might be the question I get asked the most.
3. What made you pick the S2000—and when did it become a race build? Cool story actually, I was never into cars until like 4–5 years ago. Long story short, I “built” a stance car for a year and found it extremely boring. Went to a car meet and saw the S2000. At the time, I didn't know what it was, and I was too embarrassed to ask - lol. So I took a picture of it and googled it when I got home. The rest was history. I knew I wanted it strictly 'cause it looked cool. Couldn’t care less if it had 50hp or 500hp. Fun fact: I didn't even know there was an AP1 or AP2 when I bought the car. I just bought it. I built the car myself in 8 months - from bone stock to what I would call “Version 1” and tracked it 1.5 years into ownership.
4. What inspired this build? A lot of inspiration came from The DTM, JGTC and JTCC racing series. I really wanted that race car look and also do the race car part
5. What’s it like to race this thing? It literally feels like a toy that tries to kill you, like a street legal go kart. This is a car that will teach you all about momentum. A car that rewards you for committing in turns but will also punish you real quick when you make a mistake, I spun this car lots of times before I started to understand it's character (I have an AP1) It's really fun chasing more expensive more capable cars on the track with this thing despite it being 25 years old. Truly a raw driver's car you have to live at 9000rpms with this thing.
6. Is it still your daily driver, or strictly track duty now? Not my daily driver, it's double duty! Both street and track. It was leaning into strictly track duty at one point but found myself enjoying just taking this car out sometimes so best of both worlds. Have both my OEM seatbelt + 6 Point Harness still on the car
7. What’s your general philosophy around modifying cars? I'm big on being Purpose driven. I like that most of the mods in my car actually do something and that I've personally tested out on the track and made countless tweaks to how it is now. I think there's so much beauty in that. Another thing is Respect for the platform, whatever car you have, modify your car however you'd like but don't make it lose what made it special in the first place-don’t overdo it
8. How is this car a reflection of you? I'm very intentional with how I do things, and I think this build captures that, it's rough around the edges from track use when you get real close. It's got a story to tell. I'm not chasing perfection- but chasing progress. Built to be driven past its limits. Functional, Focused, and always improving, just like me!
9. Any upcoming changes or future plans for the car? I'm pretty happy with its current state to be honest. Sometimes I do get bored and swap out the wheels or bumpers. Other than that she's a Turn key ready car. Future plans would just to get more sponsors!
10. Can you share your take on New York car culture? I’d say it’s raw, diverse, authentic, and full of character. The space is limited, garages are few, the roads are rough—but man, the passion is strong. Everyone’s got a story behind their car and so much individuality. All kinds of cars you can think of—we’ve got it. And that’s what makes it so unique.
11. What’s in your trunk these days? A bunch of road emergency kit. I like to be prepared, I hate being stranded! Jump starter, tire plug kit, jack, quart of oil/coolant, tire inflator kit, lights, small chair, some tools, and a 5lb Fire extinguisher.
12. Where can we see your car next? Grassroots event this Saturday May 10!
